Fees &
Payment
As of January 1, 2016, my fees for psychotherapy and counselling are $185. per hour. This fee is for a 50 minute session, with 10 minutes allotted for required preparation of session notes and preparation for sessions. (The rate recommended by the British Columbia Psychological Association is currently $200 per 50 minute session of psychotherapy.) For clients wishing a full hour in session, my fee is $210, and a full 90 minute session is $285. All court-related consultation or assessment work is at a rate of $280. per hour.
Clients continue to pay the rate in effect when they begin
working with me regardless of any future fee increases. This rate lapses, however, if there is a gap of one year or more between sessions. Psychologist's fees are not covered by MSP (Medicare)
but are completely or partially covered by most extended medical plans. Each plan carries a different amount of coverage. The fees
are also often covered under Employee Assistance Programs or Criminal Injury
Compensation programs. Fees paid to psychologists for psychotherapy are also deductible as a medical expense on income taxes. I request payment by cheque or cash at the
end of each appointment and I provide an official receipt with my Registration
number, with which you can claim reimbursement or a medical expense.
I ask that you cancel appointments with me as soon as you are aware that you need to. If you cancel with 48 hours notice there is no fee. If you cancel with less than 48 hours notice, half of your regular fee will be charged unless another client is able to fill the spot. If you do not call or email to cancel I will assume that you are late for the appointment, wait for you throughout the appointment time, and the full fee will be charged.
